FOLIAGE: Three-lobed leaves, that are shiny and triangular. Brilliant greenish-red and orange in Autumn.
FLOWERS: Inconspicuous
BARK:Â Pale grey and coarsely flaky. Exfoliates on larger trunks, attractive range of colours from grey to orangey-brown.
DESCRIPTION:Â Known as the Trident Maple or Buergerianum, this is an upright tree with an oval to rounded canopy. Features leaves that are three-lobed, almost ivy-like, shiny and triangular. The Spring growth is coppery-red maturing to glossy dark green in Summer and turning a brilliant greenish-red and orange in Autumn.
LANDSCAPE USES:Â An attractive, small, hardy tree with good autumn colour. Adaptable to urban environments, A. buergerianum makes an excellent shade and autumn colour tree for parks and gardens in urban areas. Good for confined spaces.
TOLERANCES:Â Tolerant of a wide range of conditions including air-pollution, semi-drought and infertile soils. Shows some wind resistance with good structural strength.
