Acer palmatum dissectum atropurpureum – Purple Weeping Japanese Maple

HEIGHT: Generally up to 2.0m but dependent on initial graft

WIDTH: 2.5m

*height & width at maturity

FORM: Weeping, generally grafted anywhere between 50cm and 1.5m 

FOLIAGE: Lacy purple and deeply incised foliage. Spring growth is claret red maturing to burgundy and becoming deep oranges and crimson in autumn.

FLOWERS: Inconspicuous

DESCRIPTION: An excellent feature plant.  Ideal in small gardens, sheltered areas, Japanese gardens, general garden planting, colour contrast, containers and makes a striking display when planted with other Maples.

 GROWTH RATE: Slow

LANDSCAPE USES: Feature, specimen, contrast

TOLERANCES: Tolerates full sun only in protected positions. Prefers moist but well drained soil. Protect from strong and hot winds.

TREE CARE: Keep roots cool by mulching. Pruning is not generally needed however do this in winter if required. Fertilise in spring before the leaves emerge. Can be prone to aphid attack.
