FORM: Pyramidial with pendulous branch tips.
FOLIAGE: Dark green and ovate, serrated. Larger than most birches. Becomes pale yellow in autumn.
FLOWERS and FRUIT: Yellowish brown male drooping catkins in spring alongside green female upright catkins. Female flowers become drooping cone shaped, many seeded fruits.
BARK: Highly ornamental white bark appears at a young age and peels off horizontally.
GROWTH RATE: Fast
DESCRIPTION: A beautiful, highly ornamental Birch with brilliant creamy-white peeling bark. Dark green, ovate leaves which turn yellow in autumn.
LANDSCAPE USES: Copse, feature, driveway, shade tree
TOLERANCES: Prefers well drained moist soil. Will tolerate some wetness and dryness. Does best in cool to cold climates. Tolerates snowy climates.
TREE CARE: Requires consistent moisture. Mulch well. Prune in winter if required. Can be affected by aphids, rust and leaf spot.
