Description
A very showy cultivar with darker pink flowers and better form than his common for the species. Excellent for floral and foliage display in smaller parks and gardens.
Foliage – heavily textured dark green heart shaped leaves turn yellow green in autumn.
Flowers – abundant clusters of deep rose purple ‘pea’ type Flowers borne along the bear branches before the leaves emerge in spring.
Fruit – can fruit prolifically with seed pods turning reddish to brown and tending to be held on the tree into winter?
Tolerances – prefers a moist deep, well draining fertile soil. Best flowering in full sun but avoid hot exposed and windy sites may require some maintenance pruning to remove lower branches and crowded in branches. Tolerant of a wide range of sites including acidic or alkaline soils but resents dry or very wet sites .
