FLOWERS:Â Showy pink flowers in early Spring.
DESCRIPTION:Â A deciduous tree with spectacular spring and autumn display. Large showy pink flowers are produced in spring. In autumn, leaves gradually change from green to dark pink. It is a small low-branched tree with horizontally spreading lines, and a layered effect, usually with a flat topped crown.
TOLERANCES:Â Cornus florida rubra grows best in a cooler climate in a full sun location.
TREE CARE:Â Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
