FORM: Multi branching with a rounded crown.
FOLIAGE: Thorny stems are clad with glossy dark green leaves. Leaves turn attractive shades of orange and red in Autumn.
FLOWERS: Fragrant clusters of white flowers bloom in late Spring. Flowers are followed in Autumn by bright orange-red fruits that remain on the tree throughout winter.
DESCRIPTION: A small to medium sized, multi branching deciduous tree, with a rounded crown. Thorny stems are clad with glossy dark green leaves. Leaves turn attractive shades of orange and red in Autumn. Fragrant clusters of white flowers bloom in late Spring. Flowers are followed in Autumn by bright orange-red fruits that remain on the tree throughout Winter.
LANDSCAPE USES: The Hawthorn can be trimmed as a hedge or used as a windbreak.
TOLERANCES: Suitable to most soil types including clay, prefers a well drained spot in full sun.
TREE CARE: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
