FORM: Vase shaped, upright, slightly spreading at the crown. Multi-stemmed and somewhat irregular.
FOLIAGE: Dark green leaves, turning light orange to russet in autumn.
FLOWERS and FRUIT: Masses of medium lavender coloured flowers in large panicles are produced on current season’s growth in summer. Insignificant capsules.
BARK: Dark greenish-grey coloured, exfoliating (after about three years) to reveal a very attractive ornamental whitish-beige underbark.
GROWTH RATE: Slow to moderate
DESCRIPTION: A popular cultivar from the Indian Summer® range, Lagerstroemia ‘Lipan’ is tough and has year round interest including a long flowering period. Useful around buildings, carparks and along fence lines.
LANDSCAPE USES:
TOLERANCES: Best in moist, well drained, slightly acidic soils in a position receiving full sun. Tolerate heat, and dryness but requires moderate watering to establish.
TREE CARE: Resistant to powdery mildew
