FORM: Upright and open
FOLIAGE: Leathery, dark green leaves turning yellowish-orange in autumn.
FLOWERS and FRUIT: Mid-lavender flowers in panicles mid-summer to mid-autumn.
BARK: Sinuous bark, exfoliating (after about three years) to a light silvery grey underbark.
GROWTH RATE:
DESCRIPTION: Adaptable, highly ornamental and long flowering.
LANDSCAPE USES: An excellent choice as a small specimen tree for parks and gardens, around buildings, carparks and shopping areas.
TOLERANCES: Best in moist, well drained, slightly acidic soils in a position receiving full sun.
TREE CARE: Transplants easily provided adequate moisture levels are maintained. Bare rooted Indian Summer® Lagerstroemia should be pruned back by 30% when planted – this will help promote spring growth by allowing the plant to first establish a strong root system.
