Liquidamber styraciflua – Liquidamber or Sweetgum

FOLIAGE: Mid green summer foliage becomes red, orange and purple during autumn. Similar in shape to maples.

FLOWERS: Insignificant flowers in spring becoming spiky round woody seed balls which hang from the branches.

BARK: Ridged with a distinct corky bark, particularly on young branches.

DESCRIPTION: A beautiful large tree best suited in parks or large gardens. It has stunning foliage in autumn that makes it a great feature shade tree.
