FOLIAGE:  Large leaves in Spring are a shiny dark green.

 FLOWERS and FRUIT: Large flowers of a dark purple-pink opening to pink and fading at the tips, (white on the inside) appear late Winter/early Spring. Blooms at an early age.

 DESCRIPTION: A strong vigorous upright growing tree to a height of 5 metres.

 LANDSCAPE USES: 

 TOLERANCES: Plant in a sunny position with good drainage and shelter from wind, so that the flowers are not damaged. Fertilize and prune to shape after flowering if required. Frost tolerant.

 TREE CARE: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
