FOLIAGE: Bright green spring leaves becoming dark green later in the season. Autumn colour is a bronzy-red
FLOWERS: Deep red & bell-shaped flowers. borne in abundant clusters of two to six flowers in late winter to early spring. One of the first to flower of the cherries.
BARK: shiny, reddish-brown. Ornamental
DESCRIPTION: A graceful flowering cherry with a brilliant early display of bell-shaped cyclamen-red flowers. Of great value in smaller gardens as a narrow specimen or for driveway plantings creating an early splash of colour in the landscape.
LANDSCAPE USES: Excellent flowering tree suitable for all size gardens. Ideal to plant in narrow spaces.
TOLERANCES: Quite adaptable to a varied site conditions, but prefers moist, well drained fertile soils and a position receiving full sun to part shade. Flowers best in full sun. Tolerant of warmer climates.
TREE CARE: Plant in full sun in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
Prune after flowering finishes each season to promote new seasons growth.
