FOLIAGE: Bronzy-purple to dark greenish-purple. New growth is bronzy-red.
FLOWERS: Masses of double rose-pink flowers in early Spring.
DESCRIPTION: This is a small deciduous tree producing masses of double rosé pink flowers in early Spring, followed by the new foliage of coppery-purple, becoming bronze-green for the remainder of the year. Very popular for street plantings and home gardens providing a lovely contrast with the different foliage colours.
LANDSCAPE USES: Attractive as a single specimen or in massed planting for long driveways and avenues.
TOLERANCES: Adaptable to a variety of site conditions, but prefers moist, well drained fertile soils and a position receiving full sun to part-shade. Flowers best in full sun. Proven and robust small tree for a wide range of situations.
TREE CARE: Plant in full sun in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
