FORM: Shrub
FOLIAGE: Mid green foliage with dull green undersides. Becomes yellow and red in autumn.
FLOWERS and FRUIT: Chains of pink currant shaped flowers up to 15cm long in spring. Fragrant, appear at the same time as the leaves.
BARK: Dark brownish-grey with prominent paler brown lenticels.
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
DESCRIPTION: A deciduous shrub, hardy in most positions whose pink flowers emerge at the same time as the leaves in spring.
LANDSCAPE USES: Hedge
TOLERANCES: Tolerates frost and drought, moderate coastal tolerance. Prefers a moist position and is tolerant of most soil types including clay. Does best in a full sun to partly shaded position.
TREE CARE: Reasonably pest and disease resistant
