DESCRIPTION: This selection of budded Chinese Elm has a strong growth habit. This large, semi-deciduous upright growing tree will grow to 10 metres in height and produces slightly larger leaves than Ulmus parvifolia. Foliage is dark green and glossy and change to yellow in Autumn, at which time flowers also appear. Leaves will hold on branches until late Winter. Spectacular avenue tree.
LANDSCAPE USES: Used for parks, street plantings and larger gardens.
TOLERANCES: Suitable to most soil conditions. Plant in well drained soil in full sun, mulch and water well. It is wind tolerant and lends itself it coastal planting also.
TREE CARE: Plant in a well drained and well worked soil. Take care to plant the bud union above the soil level. Water in well and keep soil moist until tree is established. Fertilize when planting and again after new growth appears. Prune tree when planting to encourage new growth.
