This Month's Featured Tree

This month we are featuring a very useful and attractive tree, Weeping Japanese Maples. They provide elegant structure and colour in small spaces.

Weeping Japanese Maples
 

These maples are created by grafting a weeping variety onto a regular Japanese maple trunk, forming a tree with weeping habit. The height and number of grafts can be quite variable, so when choosing a weeping maple for your garden, it is always best to pick one out yourself after imagining it growing into the desired position. Weeping maples like a semi-shaded position, protected from strong winds that can burn the leaves. They are available in both green and purple leaved varieties and provide stunning Autumn colour in yellows, reds, and oranges. 

Gearing Up For Bare Root Season

Bare rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground from seedlings and once they become dormant, are dug up and supplied without any growing medium around the roots. Bare root stock generally becomes available from mid to late June each year and can be sold until the end of August. There is generally a greater variety of trees available than at any other time of year, especially when it comes to fruit trees. Orders can be taken now to ensure stock for Winter as many lines can sell out quickly. Feel free to contact us for a list of trees available this season.

Acer platanoides 'Crimson Sentry'

With deep purple foliage, Crimson Sentry Crimson Maple is a wonderful plant to buy as focal point in a landscape. It grows narrowly upright with beautiful large leaves turning orange then red in autumn. Crimson Sentry can tolerate mild heat and pollution, is low maintenance and will thrive in any soil type.

Crimson Sentry will make a great specimen tree for small gardens, avenues, driveways.
